Reykjavik-the Capital
Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and by far its largest city, with some 60% of the total population of 325,000 living in and around the capital. It is a contemporary tech center, a busy harbor, and a cultural and art center. The Haupa is the all glass opera house built of large glass tetrahedrons, is a magnificent building with a very active program. Only two hours from Europe, top stars come here to play year around. The locals will tell you that the favorite food is hot dogs--and they stand in long lines outside the only hot dog cart in Iceland which has been doing landmark business since 1939.
