Canyon de Chelly, Arizona

Canyon de Chelly (DeChelly) in northeastern Arizona has some of the most intact ancient Navajo and Pueblo (Anasazi) ruins remaining. Inhabited for 100s of years before being invaded by Kit Carson in the early 1800's, the Navajo's were forced off their land and moved to New Mexico. Today it is wholly owned by the Navajo Tribe.
